Saxophone, tenor, Lyon and Healy , about 1920
Brand
Lyon and Healy is an Amarican musical instrument factory based in Chicago. George W. Lyon and Patrick J. Healy began the company in 1864 as a sheet music shop. They started manufacturing their own instruments in 1896. rom 1904 they started outsourcing the production. This instrument is made by Buescher. Lyon & Healy produced their own saxophones with a lot of Martin features like including bevelled/soldered toneholes. One feature was more Conn-style: the 'Mercedes' Low C Guard. They are consideres as excellent saxes, as good as pure Martin as they were probably produced on ex-Martin tooling. Later switched to Buescher stencils, engraved 'American Professional', also considered great horns.
